Land Type

In this section, we analyze the ecological footprint consumption by six land types: Carbon, Grazing Land, Forest Products, Built-up Land, Fishing Grounds and Cropland.

Select Region:

The stacked area chart shows that the majority ecological footprint globally is generated from Carbon Land. It is noteworthy that in every region, Built-up Land and Fishing Ground have the least consumption. These two types of land are often in use of agriculture statistics rather than being places for livings and exploitation. Africas and Latin Americas have the most balanced ecological footprint consumption in the other four land types, while other regions primarily exploit Carbon Land for natural resources.
